WELCOME TO THE BEST SHOPPING AREAS
incredible number of opportunities for shopping enthusiasts
Munich offers an incredible number of opportunities for shopping enthusiasts. Sendlingerstrasse, Neuhauserstrasse and Kauffingerstrasse are directly in the city center and within walking distance. These all lead directly to Marienplatz. And the well known Maximilianstrasse, where boutique after boutique are lined up. Anyone can marvel at the clothing of the great designers while window shopping.
The shopping mile on Hohenzollernstrasse (Schwabing) is less well known. This street has cult status! Shops and stores, lots of funky textile shops and designer boutiques that reject the mainstream, shoe concepts and long-established bookshops define the street scene. Here you can still shop in peace and nobody steps on your feet in the crowd. Hardly any other shopping mile manages the balancing act between fashion for a young and a more mature target group as elegantly as Hohenzollernstrasse. Especially between Kurfürstenplatz and Leopoldstrasse, numerous shops attract men and women of all ages. Before, after or during shopping, it is advisable to stop at the well-known ice cream parlor Venezia in summer or all year round in the renowned Café Schwabing on Kurfürstenplatz. The small side streets of Hohenzollernstrasse are also worth their own little journey of discovery. At the end of Friedrichstrasse, for example, is the “Schwabing Cathedral” – the parish church of St. Ursula. In summer, the people of Schwabing enjoy taking a break on their stairs.
The Cycling Player, on the other hand, is a special kind of shopping experience. This is a traditional house with modern accents and has been offering a wide range of exquisite items for over 175 years. Tablecloths and napkins that go with the dishes and the finest fabrics for the interior are still available today from the Radspielers in Hackenstrasse. The “royal bavarian court supplier for interior fittings” runs his business in the baroque Palais Rechberg. Everything that makes living beautiful: furniture, fabrics. Glasses, dishes, table linen and wheel toys. Special women’s fashion, e.g. from Oleana and many others, can also be found here. The richly decorated stucco ceilings were once objects to show customers and are unique and worth seeing, as is the beautiful view of the enchanted garden in the inner courtyard.
